Ch- Ch- Ch- Changes…

TLDR Version: “Tedium” is gone. “What Cheer?” is here. My life changed, so I’m going to try to change my blog. Isn’t that special? The goal is to write more often, and about more than just national current event politics- but no promises.

The creation of Tedium, the former incarnation of MicahNelson.Com, came about as a result of vocational frustration. I wanted to jump on the bloggin’ bandwagon- but was unable to access the traditional interfaces for such behavior due to proactive IT Staff at my place of work. As such, I bought my name as a domain and started typing away.

My political viewpoints changed drastically since my first entry on Tedium. As government expanded and civil liberties contracted, I became increasingly weary of defending Republicans. From two sources who couldn’t be more different politically, I heard words of praise for Ron Paul. Looking in to his political ideology, I found consistent and principled beliefs rooted in centuries of philosophy. In one interview with Neil Cavuto, Dr. Paul cited Gandhi, Martin Luther King Jr, Lysander Spooner, Milton Friedman, Thomas Aquinas, and Sinclair Lewis. By contrast, I seem to remember Mike Huckabee citing his mother on several occasions. I got involved locally, and we got Dr. Paul on the ballot in Rhode Island, with more signatures than any other candidate. But, alas, this wasn’t the year for principle. I regret nothing, and learned much.

On the home front, I have become a father. This has produced many potential topics which just didn’t seem to fit the political tone of my blog. I might be so bold as to say I have a plethora of topics. During the life of Tedium I quit, and reactivated (and later quit [and subsequently reactivated]), my World of Warcraft account. While this is a time consuming hobby, I have managed to start playing guitar again, and reignited my passion for soldering.

I’d like to write about these things more often.

However, the first thing I will need to write about is my newly minted title, What Cheer?
